Q:How old do I have
to be to get my scuba certification?
A:We love to teach kids to scuba dive! 10 and 11 year olds can get a junior
certification but must enroll in a semi-private class, not a regularly scheduled
group class.12-15 year olds can get a junior certification in any of our regularly
scheduled classes.
Q:I know there is a minimum age; is there
a maximum age?
A:Absolutely not! We train senior divers all the time.
Q:What kind of shape do I have to be
in to learn to scuba dive?
A:You need to be generally healthy and reasonably fit to scuba dive. We will
have you complete a medical history form prior to any pool work and may require
you to consult a physician based on your history.Medical
Form to be completed
Q:Can I take scuba classes if I don't
know how to swim?
A:Not really. You will have to pass a swimming comfort evaluation which entails
a 200 yard untimed swim using any swimming stroke or a 30 yard swim using mask,
fins, and snorkel and you will need to be able to tread water for ten minutes.
Q:What if I have to miss a pool/classroom
session?
A:We really must insist on perfect attendance, but we understand that things
happen and will try to accommodate you. Extra fees will apply if you miss a
class/pool session and need to schedule a make-up.
Q:What equipment do I need?
A:We ask that you provide your own mask, fins, snorkel, and boots. We have special
student packages set-up and you do qualify for student discounts once you put
a deposit on a scuba class. Of course you will also need a bathing suit and
towel for the pool sessions and pencil/pen
for the classroom.
